Welcome

Welcome to our webpage and thank you for taking an interest in the Othello Food Bank. Our food bank serves families and individuals of diverse backgrounds living in the small rural community of Othello within Adams County Washington. We invite you to explore our website and if you have any questions please feel free to call us.
The food bank is a private non-profit charity (501c3) registered with the IRS, and the incorporated with the State of Washington.

History

The Othello Food Bank was established in the early 1970’s by Rev. Neil Thompson and Mrs. Ruby Leary. The first bank was housed in small 11 foot x 16 foot room with shelves on the wall. In 1995 the food bank moved into their current building at 949 Main St.  Extensive renovations took place in the latter part of 2008 and first part of 2009 with the addition of new commercial refrigerators, freezers, new metal shelving and a load dock provided by the Othello Rotary as part of their service projects.  Expansions continue as needed to meet the needs of clients, a recent donation of truck in the spring of 2012 received from Evergreen Implement replaced a small trailer no longer able to meet the needs of food bank.

Our Mission

The Othello Food Bank’s mission is to provide food to families and individuals in need living in the 99344 zip code. We seek to serve those who enter our food bank with compassion, dignity and respect. We also seek to educate our community in issues of food insecurity and how food insecurity impacts those affected by the inability to provide and obtain nutritious meals for their families.
